2003 Chrysler Town and Country LX review from North America
"A multi-purpose family hauling American legend. Buy American!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Power window motor on the driver's side now won't go down. It has been acting flaky for some time, and so this is probably the time where we replace it. No big deal.
General comments?
People that complain about this vehicle type are probably spoiled, and don't include the fact that the total cost of ownership compared to other vans is far cheaper than a Honda Odyssey or Toyota Sienna.
Our '98 Grand Caravan (vanna white) got to 160,000 with minimal repairs and the only engine repair was the serpentine belt tensioner. Because the 3.3 and 3.8 V6 engines are OHV with timing chains, they are very quiet and need none of scheduled maintenance that the Honda requires.
We would have gone longer except for some rust on the rear quarter panels and under carriage hardware/brake lines.
Replacing brakes is a cheap fix, not a fault, although if you have the chance, buy one with 4-wheel discs. These models have far less brake fade loaded and shorter stop distances. /PC.
