1976 Buick Century Custom Sedan review from North America

"One of the best cars I've ever driven"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Blown transmission.

Replaced heating core.

Replaced alternator.

Flat tire plus three bald tires ready to blow at any moment.

No dash lights.

Brakes are going out.

Driver's side seat belt occasionally doesn't come out for use.

Some minor interior and exterior damage.

Suspension sags to the left.

Passenger side speaker blown.

Needle that tells you what gear you're in is broken.

Engine has been rebuilt.

Transmission fluid eater.

General comments?

This was my first car. My parents bought it in the early 90's and it's been in and out of our family many times since then. Up there it says we got it in '92. That's just a guess since I don't know.. Same with the starting mileage.

I've taken this thing everywhere, on road, off road, through bad weather, good weather, and everything in between.

Right now it is undriveable because of the transmission and brakes, but I plan to fix it eventually after my current car is 100%.

Anyway, this car has taken me all over and never let me down. I've left it without fuel oil or transmission fluid for days at a time and not one complaint. One of the tires blew on me, so that was replaced.

The thing I liked most in this car is how it handles in the snow. I've never even spun the (bald) tires on ice or snow, and it accelerates quicker than my mom's Chevy, and sounds like a tank coming down the road.

I'd definitely go Buick again, even if people think they're for "old ladies".
