1995 Jeep Cherokee Country review from North America
"Costly to own, costly to run"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Engine runs extremely hot especially in summer. Temperature gauge needle spends most of its time near the red zone (240 - 260 degrees, although the dealer states that's normal). I have checked other peoples Cherokees that were the same as mine and theirs was running the same temp. It amazes me that the truck doesn't overheat.
Compressor seized up, because engine is always so hot that the compressor never shuts off.
The sending unit for the oil pressure gauge fell out blowing oil all over the engine and the under-body of the truck. Also the oil gauge gave no reading until the sending unit was replaced.
Always having problems with the rear brakes.
General comments?
Engine has good power, although as soon as a load such as a trailer is put behind it or 4 people ride in it, the truck looses a lot of power and struggles to pull itself along.
The paintjob is very thin.
Not good seating if you're 6'+. The seat will have to go all the way back and feels like you're driving from the back seat.
Absolutely poor fuel economy.
The 4WD on the Cherokee is fabulous. The truck will go anywhere and puts others to shame. Excellent for commanding snow. Unstoppable.
