1995 Opel Calibra review from Brazil

The Lambda probe went out with 42000Km, which is very low, the average life time that is around 80000Km or more. This seems to be a Opel problem because on my last car, an Opel Astra GSi, I had to change it 3 times!!! But the third one lasted till 95000km.

The seat bucket foam start to fall apart, but I had it repaired.

The gas pump valve (the one that prevents the air going inside the gas tubes) failed and every time that I try to start the car on a hot day I had to push the start key for a long time. But it was mended.

It is a car that if you do the maintenance religiously, timing belt, air filters, oil etc… won't give you any problems.

A big fault on that car is the chassis, which is too soft for this kind if car. A big tendency to oversteer when pushed to its limits, it's almost dangerous on a wet track if you need to avoid anything on the road.

The rule on this car is: If you are doing the curve fast and the tail starts to lose its grip, FLAT FOOT ON THE GAS PEDAL.

I have installed some Koni shock absorbers, some 205/55-15V tires and the sluggish behavior of the car got better.

Despite all the efforts of the chassis to ruin your fun, it's a nice high-speed curves car. And if you have some skills to handle the car, it can be very fun if you let the tail go and bring it back.
