1993 Chevrolet Camaro Coupe review from North America
"Nice ride to have"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
So far the alternator at around 50,000.
Battery at 30k.
Belt and tensioner at 40k.
Tie rods and ball joints at 70k.
Needed new power lock switches, center console hinge (cheap plastic).
Cheap interior materials and a lot of window problems.
General comments?
It's not a bad car. Most of the problems are minor. Basically the windows and the interior bother me the most.
I still love my car though. It's got decent acceleration with the 3.4L. I have put a K&N conical air filter, Mobil 1 synthetic, transmission and muffler, black outs on the back and front turn signals. Silver on the scoops and rear Camaro lettering. It came out real nice, I love the way my car looks.
Handling is great. It saved my ass a couple of times. It has great emergency handling which I think is real important.
It's not a winter car at all. It's so frustrating being fast on the road in summer, then slowest in the winter.
I think the Camaro is a decent car. It looks great, handles great, but has some problems.
But I would take a Camaro over a Mustang. Fords have terrible electrical problems. So far I seen a couple of old Lincolns on fire, and I have seen recalls about ignition problems that may cause fires. The Taurus has a worthless transmission, the Topaz has been to the shop a lot. They could keep the Focus. Just an Rscort with a new body to me. I have heard too many horror stories about Ford and Chrysler that I would never buy one.
Overall the Camaro is not bad for the price. Nice performance and great looks. But if you want something a little more dependable you could get a Civic and soup it up and still get blown away by a Camaro.
