1983 Holden Commodore VH Vacationer review from Australia and New Zealand
"Last of the chrome classics"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Very thirsty on petrol, needs a tune, got 320km from the last tankful.
Air-con needed re-gassing.
Annoying rattle/vibration on left hand side at low revs.
Driver's arm rest had cancer and had to be replaced.
Needs new suspension bushes all around.
General comments?
An old guy must have owned this car before me. Old metal sun visor gives it away. The interior is spotless (ash tray hasn't been used!) and it appears to be have been looked after mechanically and body wise. The air-con is new as well as the radiator.
It's a beaut old comfortable car. After driving Alfa Romeos for 8 years it's nice to have a car that doesn't decide to die for no apparent reason, although it is very, very thirsty and runs like a slug in comparison, I'm still enjoying cruising in it.
Parts are plentiful and cheap. SLE options can be added for next to nix.
