1989 Alfa Romeo 75 V6 review from UK and Ireland
"Great-value poor-man's Ferrari saloon for 3K ukp"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The sunroof lining started to collapse a little, but some decent tape and glue sorted out the problem.
The propshaft coupling wore out (very common) and needed replacement.
The oil pressure sender gauge broke, but probably because some idiots at a garage fitted the wrong oil filter.
Brakes were quite squealy despite a number of changes to the pads.
General comments?
In terms of pure-adrenalin driving, this car scores highly.
The engine is ultra-spectacular, a real gem that pulls really impressively from low down.
Handling really well-balanced, has far more ability than the initial bodyroll suggests. Like all Alfas, it really responds positively to being driven aggressively.
My only gripes are the gearchange, too cumbersome (if the engine had been mated to something that wasn't transverse-mounted, the car would do 0-100km in about 6.7 - still 7.3 ain't bad!).
Driving position not ideal. Pedal position uncomfortable, ankle aches on a long journey.
