2000 Jeep Wrangler Sport review from North America

"A low performance overpriced SQUAT car!"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

The Wrangler must not be ordered with an automatic transmission if you are getting anything above the 3.07 axle ratio.

Why would they force a customer to take a 3.73 axle ratio merely because limited slip is ordered? It is a stupid rule and an engineering error because there is no over-drive in the automatic transmission. Curiously, the 5 speed stick shift has over-drive when ordered in the same car.

Curiously, my new Grand Cherokee has a 3.73 axle ratio but it has TWO (2) over-drive gears in its 5 speed automatic transmission.

The Wrangler 3 speed automatic does not have over-drive and causes terrible gas milage and excessive engine wear with a tall axle ratio... even though the car weighs a lot less. Also, this damn Wrangler gets worse mileage on a trip than it does around town ... believe it!

My car also had a problem which caused fuel to leak into the oilpan diluting the oil and reducing engine life.

They would not (could not) fix my Jeep and I lost my bid for repair or replacement under the lemon law act. Still, I did replace it with another Jeep at my own expense making sure the trade-in dealer knows about the problems.

I have grave concerns over the potential liability from selling this car without fixing it under warranty, but that is apparently what they did. I have been trying to notify Jeep Daimler-Chrysler about this, but they appear to be playing Ostrich with me.

General comments?

I hate these bums for screwing me!

The people in Texas where they adjudicate these Lemon Law cases believe I had 25000 miles on the car when I applied, but in fact I only had 5000 miles on it.

I thought the dealer people were my friends, but now I see they don't care what happens to me.

Why is it that every friendship goes to hell when the almighty dollar is involved?
