1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo review from North America
"Too high priced for what you get!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
At 4000 miles the brakes started grabbing to the left and stuttering badly when stopping. Especially noticeable when exiting from the freeway. The service manager at Jeep told me (rudely I will add) it was a known problem, the brake rotors were not quite heavy duty enough for the weight of the vehicle, but the only thing they would do for me is turn the front rotors once before it reached 9000 miles.
After that-NO WARRANTY-no matter what, on the brakes. I went to a known professional brake shop and had the rotors turned. They were quite warped. After several more thousand miles the same trouble started again. I had the rotors turned again. At 30,000 miles after enduring bad braking more often than not for the life of the vehicle, I had new heavy duty rotors installed. So far so good.
General comments?
The Jeep Grand Cherokee is a nice looking vehicle, but it is not comfortable for long trips. The adjustable seat doesn't seem to have the right combination of settings for most people who have driven my Jeep.
