1988 Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce review from North America
"This car provides a lot of smiles per mile!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
I've only had to replace the brake master cylinder. I chose to install new U-joints, lower ball joints, and driveshaft support bearing. These are considered normal wear items and I thought it would be a relatively cheap investment.
General comments?
I found the sitting position for the driver to be a bit uncomfortable at first. In order to keep my knees out of the lower portion of the dash, my arms must be extended to a nearly straight position. I've gotten used to it now and don't find it to be too bothersome.
The handling qualities of the car are great. The balance is good with just the right mix of oversteer/understeer for my performance level.
The body lines are classic Italian - sexy without being too radical (e.g., Lamborghini). This is a real head-turner, especially in the small town in which I live!
The gearbox is just as it is reputed to be - a bit sticky from first to second.
The engine/exhaust combo has a fantastic, throaty sound.
