1995 Chevrolet Caprice Classic 9C1 review from North America
"Best bang-for-the-buck 4-door sedan in America"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
After purchase, I immediately replaced all the brake pads and front brake rotors.
The interior blower fan motor was replaced upon purchase.
A very small oil leak occurs after high speeds due to the oil filter adapter seal needing replacement. However, my driveway is extremely clean and drip free.
General comments?
No other car can provide as much combination of performance, handling, utility, comfort, safety, and reliability in such an affordable package.
The car is strong and safe. It has front and rear crumple zones (that I witnessed in a salvage yard), safety cage, 1997 side impact standards, and dual airbags.
Steering and handling are seriously quick and precise. It is difficult to believe that it is a descendent of a traditional American body-on-frame automobile.
Minimal body lean, even on fast corners.
Brakes on a dime with 4-wheel disc anti lock brakes.
Make no mistake, this is a fast car regardless of weight and size.
Because of some cheap interior plastic parts, expect some squeaks. However, I have eliminated them with some minor modifications.
The seats are firm and decent in front, and very comfortable in the back.
All weatherstrip seals have held up extremely well.
My suspension will need some maintenance, but nothing abnormal or major. I am contemplating shocks, and tie rods.
The headlights are probably the weakest link. Chevy has an export option that remedies it for a price.
