1995 Hyundai Accent 4 Door Sedan review from North America

"Low cost, high value, and stylish to boot"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Broken clutch cable at 9k miles (repaired under warranty).

"Flex" exhaust pipe at 22k (repaired under warranty).

Rear exhaust pipe at 60k.

Brake pads (front) at 70k miles.

Center console/arm rest broken.

High/low beam headlight switch stuck in high beam mode at 80k.

Was suffering from very poor performance and very hard starting at 95k miles, and had a major tune-up done (by the dealer) which fixed all the problems.

Driver's seat foam insides were worn down to the metal frame.

New water pump at 100k (car died - towed to the dealer).

Brake pads and rotors (front) at 120k.

New alternator at 125k (car died - towed to the dealer).

General comments?

I bought this car right out of college and traded in another Hyundai (one my parent's gave me that I had trashed). I shopped around before buying and it turned out that Hyundai was the best deal for me. Plus I was given a "loyalty" incentive for buying another Hyundai.

I didn't buy this car to drag race, it's *not* a barn burner. Passing cars can be tricky because of this.

I've taken good care of it, washing that North-eastern USA winter salt off off of it (no rust) and changing the oil every 3-5k miles.

The car is loud when driving, so I bought a CD-player that is louder than the car noise and have gotten used to it.

I've owned the car for nearly six years now. It's paid off, has never caused me any major headaches (other than needed a tow twice) or dings to my bank account. Overall it's been good to me.
