1998 GMC Jimmy SLE review from North America
"A great vehicle with marginal quality"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Trim on the rear lift gate came loose two days after delivery.
Popping noise from the front suspension two months after delivery. Dealer still unable to stop the noise.
First fuel pump went out at 38,000 miles. Second fuel pump went out at 43,000 miles.
Windshield wiper module went out at 45,000 miles. Window washer fluid line to rear glass ruptured at 38,000 miles.
Transmission went out at 60,000 miles.
General comments?
Although I have had some mechanical problems with this vehicle, I am very pleased with my Jimmy. It is the most comfortable vehicle I have ever owned, it has more than enough power, and it is still good looking after 70,000 miles.
Please be aware that this vehicle is built for comfort, not for off roading.
My advice to anyone considering a Jimmy to buy an extended warranty. (My extended warranty has saved me over $2,500.)
