1999 Dodge Durango SLT review from North America
"This nice looking truck is an expensive piece of junk"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
My first problem was with my passenger side window (power windows). When I would try to put it down from the driver's side control it would not move. You had to do it from the passenger side. If it was already down, I couldn't get it to go up from the driver's side control. I had it in and out of the dealer 8 times before it was finally fixed correctly and that was only after I filed for the Lemon Law and Chrysler sent a district manager down to see that it was fixed right.
My latest problem is my transmission. At 15,717 miles, it went while I was on the parkway. I had it towed to the dealer and it was there for 12 days. They put in a new "rebuilt" transmission from Chrysler. 1 month later (and 500 miles later) the transmission is gone again. My truck is once again at the dealer. They tell me that they are going to put in another new "rebuilt" transmission. When I called them at first this time before I took it in they said to me "it's probably not your transmission. You just had one put in and sometimes the transmission fluid finds little pockets that it goes into and it doesn't flow evenly. Bring your truck up here and we'll check the fluid and fill it for you". I told them it was NOT a need for fluid, the transmission was shot. So now, my "D" will have had 3 transmissions in it at only 16,200 miles!!! The service department told me they don't know when it will be done since they are at "Chrysler's mercy as to when the transmission will come in". I will NEVER, EVER buy another Chrysler product!!
