2000 Volkswagen GTI GLS review from North America
"A solid, powerful, well engineered car"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Passenger door lock replaced.
Driver seat heating switch replaced.
Rear window fluid spray nozzle replaced.
Driver seat frame replaced.
Driver window regulator replaced.
Some minor creaks and rattles.
General comments?
The engine power is excellent.
Very stable at maximum speed.
Sound level is excellent; very quiet.
Interior cabin appointed with good quality materials, with a well designed and very attractive layout (almost everyone loves the blue dash!)
The mileage of 9L/100KM is very good, considering the power.
This car is extremely tunable and customizable for the enthusiast!
HUGE carrying capacity for a car this size.
Handling is good, once your switch to better tires, but body roll somewhat excessive; the factory supplied tires inappropriate to this car and suspension a bit too soft.
Shifter is somewhat notchy, with long throws unless you are aggressive.
Rear seat room is somewhat cramped.
