1982 Volkswagen Rabbit LS review from North America
"A low budget body mover"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Car's Speedo has been broken for several years. I suspect the car has around 225k miles on it now.
Water pump
Struts
Master cylinder
Vacuum pump
Vent window handles, fell off (used 5 minute epoxy to re-attach).
Headliner came loose.
Motor mounts
3 timing belts (normal MX)
General comments?
Everything except water pump replacement was cheap and easy. My car has working AC, and powersteering. Gets around a tank of gas every 2 weeks (don't know the exact mileage, no working speedo).
Not having speedo working makes the low acceleration liveable. If I knew how slow I was really going, I'd go nuts :-)
I've owned a gas Dasher, gas Jetta and now this Rabbit. I still loved my Dasher more, but the Rabbit beats the A2 Jetta I had as far as reliability.
