1983 Chevrolet Monte Carlo 2 door Convertible review from North America
"It grows on you every day"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The usual problems that are associated with G body cars. The steering column tilts by itself, and the quadrajet that came on the car is a piece of junk.
Also while I am complaining, putting a good stereo in was a waste of time for me. The sound does not transfer from the trunk (bass) no matter what I throw at it.
General comments?
This is my street car. The original 305 didn't respond very well to modifications, so I decided to go farther... much farther. Currently running 406, iron heads, reed cam, ferrea valves, nitrous express plate kit, built th350, 3600 stall and auburn rear. Best 12.20 na, and 11.63@18 on bottle. But after 20k miles of street racing this body is starting to show its age. However as a testament to this cars likability, I will transplant all my stuff into another Monte Carlo when the time comes... and start again!
