1999 Subaru Legacy Limited Ed review from Australia and New Zealand
"Great performance, reliability and value for money, fun to drive too"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Switch for brake lights failed in late 2001 (60000km). Fixed under warranty.
Battery failed, new one paid for under warranty (50000km).
Paint is a bit thin, hence prone to stone chipping.
Two tyres worn out at 45000km, Not bad at all.
General comments?
This car has been mechanically bulletproof and a practical, comfortable workhorse. Interior very durable and well thought out, a bit on the plasticky side though.
Performance is more than adequate, as good as a mid range 3 series BMW or Audi A4, if not better, esp with the awd. You'd need to spend almost double to get an Audi quattro to rival this for space and useable pace!. Turbo will be even more impressive.
Lots of room in the back, seats offer great support too.
