1992 Lexus LS400 LS review from Kuwait
"A very good looking, quick, roomy bruiser!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Steering rack leakage, had to replace with a used one (not avaidable from the agent), but did buy a repair kit to change all the seals. Now perfect.
A couple of light bulbs.
General comments?
I brought the car knowing a few things needed doing;
Power steering pump, had it replaced with a used one. I also replace the drive belt, though I didn't need to, I thought it best, the power steering is now excellent.
Front suspension knock, had it checked, needs front bushes, top and bottom sets both sides. Will replace.
Gearbox mounting worn, replaced.
And a few other things, small holes in both headlights, cracked windscreen and a broken aerial.
Well, I knew most of this when I brought it along with the fact that it has covered some 187,000 miles.
Luckily I have a very good friend, who is also a very good mechanic. It helps!
The car, what can I say, even with all this, just superb! And I don't like Japanese cars as a rule, but the Lexus is different!
An American import with full options, and they all work!
A very good looking, quick, roomy bruiser!
A classic car, if not now, certainly later.
Both engine and transmission, excellent.
The car handling in sport mode is one of the the best I've driven.
The interior is very well fitted, though the seats could be more comfortable.
With traction control along with the assisted braking system, even in heavy rain, both stable and reassuring.
I've owned Mercedes, Fords, Jaguars and like this Lexus they are all about the same age, 1992.
It's still early, and there is some more work to do, which will be done.
But, when I've driven it for a few more months, I'll write again.
