1971 Triumph 2000 mk2 review from UK and Ireland
"Distinctive Fun"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Nothing has gone wrong with this car so far, then again I haven't had it long!
General comments?
This is my first car, and I'm proud of it. In the short time I have owned this car it has been fabulous.
The car is ever so comfy and gives great vision all around. The interior isn't too strong in some areas, but considering its age it has stud up well to the test of time.
The engine. What an engine! the grunt note at idle, under hard acceleration the revs build up with slow conviction, and the whole car roars forward! Puts a huge grin on your face. Sad to see so few cars have an un-muted voice these days.
The handling is a comedy bonanza. At slow speeds it provides a cosseting ride, yet at high speeds it makes whatever speed you are going feel like you are going twice as fast when coupled with the loud engine note! On Britain's speed camera infested roads this can only be a good thing. Not the most quick witted of cars or the fastest point to point, but by good you have a lot of fun getting there!
Overall my impressions of this car have been great! Distinctive looks coupled with such as lovely smooth straight six (which is supposedly bomb-proof) and the fun handling have made this such a great first car. Much more fun than a Fiesta 1.0!
Tax free and cheap on insurance cancels out 25mpg!
