2001 Citroen Saxo review from Portugal
"Little box of surprises"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
None.
General comments?
I bought this car just because the high weekly mileage I was doing, sometimes more than 600km. So, I thought: cheap, economical, reliable? Let's try the saxo. And on my way to the dealer I was thinking: oh my god, I'm buying a turtle in wheels.
Wrong! In 33000 miles I never had one little stupid tiny thing. And it was driven pretty hard. Let's look at the numbers: 5l/100km and surprisingly fun to drive, with a top speed of 180 tested at my own risk, I was amazed by this little car. I was never expecting the 1500 diesel engine could be this quick. (won't outrun no ferrari, but will humiliate most clios and ibizas both in top speed and acceleration)
On the downside, the dealer rips your eyes off for an oil change.
