1996 Ford Fiesta Si review from UK and Ireland
"Fast and fun to drive, but plagued by reliability problems."
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Where do we start?...
New clutch required at 34000 miles...
Other items which needed replacing:
Faulty brake master cylinder cover...
Faulty rear brake cylinders...
Faulty front brake caliper...
Front brake discs/pads (twice...)
The remote central locking system had a mind of its own and worked erratically.. (the dealer could not trace the fault).
Premature wear on front suspension...
Indicator switch had to be replaced at 52000 miles...
Signs of premature wear on fabric on driver's seat...
Persistent rattles coming from the dash board (can be infuriating..)
Rear windscreen wiper sometimes did not
work...
General comments?
I cannot however fault the sharp handling and impeccable ride of the car.
It was great fun to drive, but this was marred by the poor reliability and expenses incurred.
