1984 Chevrolet Chevette CS review from North America
"A rare, fun car to drive"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The radiator started to leak and needed to be recored.
Alternator regulator failed and was replaced.
The above and everything else that has gone wrong are wear and tear.
General comments?
This little diesel is so much fun to drive. Parts are hard to find and some ingenuity is needed to keep it road worthy. I use it to drive to work and back every day and average about 40-44 MPG depending on the season and diesel fuel blend.
I will make note that unless you can service and diagnose diesel engines and are OK with the fact that eventually the fuel pump and injectors will wear out (about $1200CAN) the diesel is a poor value. However, I can do the above and I would never sell this car. the looks you get driving a diesel chevette and having gas pump attendants come running out to tell you you're pumping diesel is absolutely priceless!
