1993 Dodge Intrepid Base review from North America

"Don't overpay and it's great"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

I bought the car knowing the air conditioning was shot.

I haven't bothered to spend the $1,000 to get it fixed.

The heater makes buzzing noises when it first comes on, but works great otherwise.

The car's interior is of very cheap quality.

I had to replace the drivers' seat fabric due to a tear.

The cigarette lighter fell off and now sits in my ash tray.

Both front cup holders on the car broke off.

My drivers' side window (manual roll-up) closes crookedly, leaving an open space between the edge of the door and the window.

I had to replace the original brake rotors which were terribly pitted and warped.

I replaced a tie-rod.

I installed a new battery after the old, factory-installed battery went out (normal wear and tear).

I also replaced the brake pads as part of normal wear and tear.

General comments?

This car has a great engine and despite what I've heard from other Intrepid owners, the transmission has performed wonderfully as well.

My only complaint is, for a car of this size, it is slightly underpowered.

The 3.3 liter engine does however, have plenty of get-up-and-go for highway passing situations.

It is a bit of a gas guzzler, though.

This car is great on the highway, rides smooth, has plenty of room, an enormous trunk and very comfortable seats.

My car has been very dependable and well worth the low price I paid for it used.

If you don't overpay for this car and are willing to spend a little extra money fixing it up, this is a great sedan to own.
