1988 Opel Kadett review from Poland
"A quite comfortable 5-door hatchback that can be even used as some kind of a sports car"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
I had some problem with electronics, believe due to improper connections, central unit was replaced.
Entire exhaust system had to be replaced at about 330000 km.
Electric fuel pump was replaced at about 350000 km.
Engine began to use enormous quantities of oil above 350000km. I bought a second-hand engine.
I had some rust problems, especially rear arches and underbody.
General comments?
I love driving this car! It is very comfortable (as for the class and age), has quite stiff and safe suspension.
Very good performance (0-100km/h in below 11 sec.)
Fuel consumption below 8.5 l/100km in the city and below 6.5 l/100km on the highway, even when using full power of the engine, however it raises 1.5-2 l/100km in the wintertime.
