1992 Ford Tempo GL review from North America
"The tempo is a great car for new drivers"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
My axels were bad when I got the car which cost me about $250 to replace.
The transmission is starting to act up.
The paint is fading from the sun.
A/C does not work and I can't figure out why.
2 of the door lock motors went out, I went to the junk yard and replaced them for $5 apiece.
General comments?
I think this is a great first car, but it is not the kind of car you want to keep forever.
It does not have much power, but that is good for a new driver. Id like to have the extra power for when I "need" it, like when I am pulling out into traffic or trying to pass someone.
It gets fairly good gas mileage, about 24/27.
My brother had a 93 Ford Tempo, the only thing that went wrong with it was the fuel pump went out at about 120,000
miles. But he forgot to change his oil and destroyed his engine at around 130,000 miles.
My dad also had a Ford Temp, he had no problem with it for 230,000 miles when his transmission went out.
I think this is a very reliable and inexpensive car.
