1989 Nissan Stanza GXE review from North America
"My trusty steed"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Before 176,000 miles, I had normal repairs and replaced the clutch once.
At 176,000 miles I replaced the engine.
This month I had to replace the starter, have the rear brakes resurfaced, and replace the exhaust manifold.
I hit a major pothole a few years back, was able to get by with a shim to correct the warped control arm until recently and then had to replace the lower control arm and axle in order to get the alignment OK.
The worst thing about this car: they stopped making them and I can't get a new one...
General comments?
This car is one of a few that I can adjust so the seats don't hurt my back - it is very comfortable.
The handling is smooth and steering is nice and tight, I drive this car long distances on a fast highway without concern.
I repainted the car last year, because I was tired of the color (no, I would NOT recommend getting Maaco to paint your car, but that's another website... there is now rust damage where none existed before).
This is a great little car, almost a pet since I've had it so long (yes, it has a name, but I'm not going to share that with you right now).
