2002 Renault Laguna Sports tourer Dynamique review from UK and Ireland

Poor reception on FM Radio.

RENAULT LAGUNA SPORTS TOURER DYNAMIQUE 1.8 PETROL.

An excellent estate car with only a couple of small, but very annoying faults. The styling is great and the comfort from a driver prospective is very good. I travel up to 40K miles per annum and the Laguna is as comfortable as any car that I have driven. The 1.8 petrol is smooth, but under powered for a car of this size and I would recommend the 1.9 or 2.2 turbo diesels. Gear change is neat, but does not like to be hurried and the brakes are top class. The general handling and the ride are good on reasonable road surfaces.

The remote audio control on the steering wheel stalk is fiddly and not as easy to operate as some of the leading rivals such as Peugeot and Ford, but my main HATE is the radio.

As a spend many hours in the car each day, I enjoy listening to BBC Radio2 on FM, but the reception on the Laguna Radio is terrible. I have taken the car back to the dealer on several occasions, but the problem has not been fixed and I have now been advised by Renault Customer Service that this is a problem only on the Laguna Estate versions and only on the Radio2 FM waveband and only in certain areas. They have declined to have anything further to do with the matter: so if you listen to BBC Radio2 in your car, do not buy a Renault Laguna Estate.
