2000 Chevrolet Silverado LT review from North America

After first week of ownership, it was taken to the dealer, who kept it for a week. The primary issues were: rough idle, squealing noise while turning, damaged interior door panel from factory, brakes go to floor when attempting to stop on rough road. Later, other issues were found: stalling during quick acceleration, clunking sound/thump feeling in steering, gauges and CD player motor coming-back on after ignition has been off about 30 seconds, driver's door when being closed causes rear door to bounce-open, intermittent operation of compass/thermo in mirror. After dealer could not repair primary issues after 12 attempts, they tried to tell me that these were characteristics of this truck. I also got the standard "We can't get it to do it" dialogue. GM fought me tooth-and-nail for nearly a year, before I won a lemon law case requiring them to buy-back the truck. The truck had been parked and not driven for over six months. I was afraid for my safety, as the truck would stall-out when attempting to pass on the interstate. My sister was kind enough to lend me her 1994 Mazda pickup. My concern now is that CarFax says it has not been repurchased, and the truck has been sold to someone in Searcy, AR. When I asked CarFax about this, they said that not all states report to them. That is probably why they gave my lemon a clean bill of health.

This was a very comfortable truck that rode and handled great. It had great "get-up and go", except for when it stalled-out and died. Nice try on the stereo, but just not enough power to be heard even over the quiet interior without extreme distortion. Beautiful truck and nice design, but extremely poor execution, in my opinion.
