1998 Buick Park Avenue review from North America
"Have it checked over before buying"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Oil Pan Gasket at 25,000 miles.
Rear Main Seal of Engine at 25,000 miles.
General comments?
I just bought the car used with 25,500 miles being the second owner from an elderly couple. It leaks oil everywhere. Took it to the Chevy dealership who showed me service bulletins on the oil leaks. Replaced the oil pan gasket and rear main seal of the engine. About 700.00 in work. Car lot paid for this though. Mechanic said he has done about 40 of these. Said they are bone dry or leak. Have it checked out first before buying and have them look for this problem. It is common. Otherwise car is very comfortable and floats like a cloud. Tons of room and a great value for the money so far. My problem is common he said, but not the norm. Mechanic also said the tires are tricky to stay balanced and the suspension is tricky giving the driver a rough feel at times that feels as a tire is out of balance.
