1986 Mercury Colony Park LX review from North America
"Great starter car for value, comfort, and reliability"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
When I first got the car, it had a vacuum leak, which caused the heater to kick on going up a hill, and the air conditioning to kick on going down a hill.
Around 200,000 miles the fuel pump went bad.
The year before I sold it, the driver's side window switch was bad, and the left rear window motor was shot.
To switch the power mirrors, you turn a little joystick to move the left or right mirrors which no longer works.
The car has collected rust under the rear quarter panels.
The leather seats have faded a little.
General comments?
I loved the car becuase it was cheap, reliable, luxery transportation that I could afford for around $3,200 used in 1995, (the car was $21,000 new)
It has never left me stranded, despite the vacumm leak.
It had great pick-up on the highway, and a booming stock radio/cass system.
I loved the auto headlamp feature.
The Mercury had a softer ride than my 1992 Eldorado.
