1980 Chevrolet Caprice landau review from North America
"This car is a solid runner"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Sometimes the wipers will not turn off
they are in delay mode even though they
are turned off.
The valve guide seals are not as tight
as they once were as the engine puffs
a bit of blue sometimes when I start it
up.
The windshield leaks, but only when it rains I think this is because there may be some rust under the Landau top.
The engine runs way to hot when I use the A/C on a really hot day, this is because the condenser is mounted in front of the rad and the heat from the
A/C is pulled past the radiator,
i think a extra electric fan mounted up front would help with cooling on those really hot days.
General comments?
I like the 2 door Caprice better than the 4 door because it's easier to get in and out of.
The trunk is nice and big so I can carry lots of stuff.
The 305 is real good on gas and has not bad power when you step on it.
The car handles reasonably well, but would benefit from heavier sway bars.
For the size of the car it has a very tight turning circle.
I was t-boned at a intersection in the
Caprice I had before, I didn't have a
scratch, I think the Caprice is a very safe car.
