1998 Ford Taurus SE review from North America
"A costly problem model"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
This car has had many problems since we bought it. The dome light would never go off, and we were afraid the battery would die, so we took the light bulb out of the dome light.
Two of the doors' locks do not work automatically with the key ring buttons or the inside unlock/lock buttons, and a third door's lock only locks automatically sometimes.
Since we bought the car, we've replaced the rear rotors twice because inside the tires, there is no cover protecting the rotors and brake pads from water, rain, mud, etc.
The panel where the radio is only works some of the time, and when it doesn't work, you have to put the dim-lights on for the panel to light up.
In general, the car has had tons of problems and my neighbor has the same model Taurus and has had almost all the expect same problems. Ford needs to do something about this because it is too late to go back on paying for the car and invest in a new one after all the work we've put into it, especially the $900 on the rotors 1 year ago (this past August) and the $300 for the new right-rear rotor yesterday. I would advise anyone looking at this model to not get this particular model because its nothing but trouble nd its only the third year of owning the car!
