2000 Ford Focus Wagon review from North America
"A lemon that should have never been built"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
We have had numerous recalls on the vehicle. Some of the parts used to "repair" the recalls, have been recalled. At 35k we had to replace our brake pads, and rotors. The repair shop (not Ford) who did this work for us told us he had never seen warping on rotors like ours, and that they would cause our tires to prematurely wear. At 40k we put $500 worth of new tires on the car to replace the bald 60k tires that came with vehicle. At 47k
our electrical locks system went out and the engine would not turn over. Ford put new battery in (after having the car for 3days) and a new fuse for the locks. Four hours later car stalled out and locks are inop. again. I have to wait until Monday morning to take back in to service center.
General comments?
This number one rated car of the year for 2000 is a lemon. We bought this car putting our trust into Ford. We have been frustrated and disappointed with the car. We don't feel safe in it and it has proved to be undependable. We feel like we are driving a time bomb.
