2002 BMW Mini One review from UK and Ireland

"A fantastic drive"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

molding

General comments?

A unique car + unique person = Unique Problems.

I wanted a car that was unique in personality.

When I opted for this new beauty, I was totally smitten.

The looks, the handling ability, and I think a reasonable price for

such an exhilarating drive.

However, I was also determined that the company that would get

my hard-earned cash would have to have a good solid reputation.

You can understand my surprise when I had,

two punctures in a space of a week.

"You had the option of a spare wheel."

I hear you say.

My sales adviser, at the time was very happy to assure me that

the tire repair kit & the "Mini Emergency Service" would take care of

me should I have any problems.

Sunday 27/10/02

1. Tire repair Kit was useless, as the hole in the tire was too big.

2. When I relay this to Mini, and ask them to bring a new tire,

Response, " We don't bring tries out to the customer, we'll recover

your vehicle if we are unable to repair it there & then"

The latter happened.

3. The recovery guy tries to help me get a new tire from Quick fit,

" These are special tires only for the Mini, it will take us 24 hours to order it in."

Monday 28/10/02

1. BMW in Exeter, which is where I ended up being recovered to, said the same thing

2. 1 day & £90 pounds later, I get a courtesy car to head back to London, not even a Mini or BMW, but a Vectra. Talk about making sure you remain loyal & happy.

Tuesday Evening 29/10/02

1. My baby arrived back with a scratch on the wheel molding. BMW

claim it was already there.

Thursday 31/10/025

Puncture No.2. Again " We'll come out & recover your car.

Now as you can imagine when you are on your way somewhere,

E.g. nursery runs, the last thing you want to mess around with is courtesy

cars & another £90 charge for a tire.

Conclusion

Inconveniences at very crucial times + bad after sales service = Very unhappy customer.

What is Mini willing to do?

Get me a spare wheel.

Cost £90 as opposed to, £35 at the beginning of the purchase.

"Fantastic service"

They advise I put my complaint to BMW in writing.

My resolve my 1st & last ever BMW make car.
