1999 Dodge Durango XLT 4X4 review from North America
"Best car, lots of room"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
About the only thing that has gone wrong with our Durango is that the battery in the keyless entry key chain has died twice.
We do regular maintenance and have it checked at the dealer.
Had to replace the brakes at 45,000. I tend to ride the brakes.
Our Durango didn't fair to well with towing. We did not intend to do any towing when we purchased it. We installed a hitch and rented a trailer. The Durango had problems pulling the mountains here in Colorado.
General comments?
We've leased this vehicle for the past 3 years. Have not had a better car. Lots of room for the kids and dogs. Lots of leg and head room. Lots of places to put drinks, etc.
I was in an accident with the Durango about a year ago and there wasn't hardly any damage to the Durango, the Ford I hit was a complete loss.
We've had this Durango in some really tough spots here in Colorado. The 4x4 works great for off-roading and is a life saver in the snow and ice.
The engine has a lot of power. If you want a car with good gas mileage, don't get a Durango. If you want a car that will hold 7 and has lots of extras, get a Durango.
Seats 7 with no problem.
This is the best car we have ever owned. It gets us where we want to go and gets to places other people can't go. We are already planning to lease our second Durango this spring.
