1996 Chrysler Neon LX review from UK and Ireland
"A fast, but hard to maintain car"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
An electrical problem caused the starter motor to burn out a week after I got the car. The dealer said I had to wait a month for a replacement and it was to cost £220. I got a reconditioned motor of a mail order company for £100 and got it fitted by a local mechanic.
The radiator was sprung a leak and even a second hand radiator costs £130, instead I had mine re-cored which cost £70.
General comments?
The Neon is very quick up to about 80 mph, but after that it is not very responsive.
The seats are comfortable enought.
Finding replacement parts for this car is very difficult and can be expensive.
Grip is good in the dry, but in the wet it has a tendancy to under steer.
