2001 Volkswagen Jetta GLX review from North America

Windows (were recalled so I fixed them)

gears stick a little when cold--plan to take to mechanic to fix after reading other reviews.

Cup holder is a little sticky

"wood" paneling has some cracks

6 disc cd player skips more than normal

(that's about it)

After reading many many reviews on how horrible this car is, I must say that I actually really love this car. I love the way I step on the gas and I go forward (fast). I also love the look and the feel of the car.

I did a lot of research before I bought the car and by far, this car was the best for the price. Granted, the problems are annoying and time consuming, but I really don't believe that they are any worse or "lemonish" than any other car out there for this price.

After driving a Hyundai Accent for years--these problems are little and really aren't reasons to complain (In my experience) I've had more problems with previous cars than with this one.

About the windows: they were recalled and fixed--I've never had any problems with them (and that sucks for anybody without that luck)

Other interior stuff: "wood" paneling always cracks in any car. disc changer doesn't skip after a good cleaning and the cup holder just needed to be cleaned too.

I really haven't had any problems with the engine stuff. I think most people need to find a really really good mechanic. I go to a certified VW mechanic shop (not a dealer) and I absolutely love them.

Anyway, that's all that I have to say. I really love this car and everything "wrong" with it isn't anything worse that what would happen with any other car. For all the options and everything, this car far surpasses the "problems". I'm sorry for all those people that have had bad luck with their Jetta's, but I would buy a new one any day.
