1990 Geo Metro review from North America

The only problem I've had was the alternator died at around 105000 miles.

An aftermarket (NAPA) alternator wound up costing me $180.00. About half of what the dealer wanted. Still pricey, however.

Otherwise, no problems.

I've owned this car for 2 and 1/2 years now, and I really can't complain. It hasn't left me on side of the road, and is quite dependable. It starts every day without a fuss, even in the cold Wisconsin Winters.

This car is very comfortable considering its size. The heater works exceptionally well---another plus during the Winter.

As for handling, it does alright. It handles quite well on snow and ice, (surprisingly for how light this car is). A little lacking in power, but, this is an economy car, so this is to be expected. Still, when I test drove this car, I was quite surprised as to how well it did run.

The main reason I bought this car was the ease of maintenance, and the fuel economy. Very easy to work on for the most part, (excluding the brakes).

The fuel economy is awesome. I typically average 45-50 mpg in the summer (running around 70mph), and 40-45 in the winter (same speed when the roads are decent). Obviously, in the cold weather, I let the car warm up for 15 minutes to a half hour as I can't stand driving a cold car.
