1988 Pontiac Bonneville LE review from North America
"Luxury and performance in a beast that won't quit!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The paint has faded, making it look like skunk stripes all along the top.
It wobbles like crazy at about 60 miles per hour.
The driver side window sounds like the drive is going to crack. I don't use it in the winter. That really stinks at the drive-through.
Transmission slips when it's put in gear. Also if you jam the pedal down.
General comments?
I acquired this vehicle from my aunt. She was getting a new Volvo because they're supposed to be extraordinarily safe or some junk like that.
I wasn't really interested in the car at first. But I didn't have a choice. My 2nd Dodge Daytona that I owned broke a piston, and I needed a car real bad. I took it off my aunt's hands for a loaned $500 dollars (which I never paid back, so the car was free) This was the best investment I ever made.
You get luxury and performance all in one. How can you beat that? I'm a muscle car fan. But I also like to be comfortable. This car meets both areas in between and then some.
It starts up instantly and runs like a champ. I would have no problem taking this car on a long trip.
I would definitely buy another Bonneville. But I've heard the older ones are better than the newer ones. I'm going to hold on to mine for as long as she'll run.
I have plans to convert my LE model into the sportier SSE model in the very near future.
