2002 Jaguar XKR Convertible review from UK and Ireland
"Graceful, pacey and oppulent!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
It needed to have 3 CD players before one finally worked properly.
The fan belts needed replacing in the first week. (This is a known problem apparently).
The electronic management of the gearbox went wrong - the car didn't die, but was very unhappy! This was fixed very quickly.
General comments?
It is a beautifully designed car, (my 3rd Jaguar and my 2nd XKR).
I feel they (Jaguar) could have done more with an interior redesign for the new 4.2 version. There are supposedly 900 changes in total, but they are hard to spot.
The larger engine (200cc's more) and 400bhp linked to a new 6-speed box is an enjoyable combination. Lots of mid-range power.
The XKR does not set out to be a Ferrari or Porsche - it is a highly qualified, luxurious, autoroute muncher! Fantastic for high-speed fun with the top down.
