1999 Chrysler Sebring Coupe LXi review from North America
"Sporty, but with some serious problems"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
I had problems with the tires/rims from the start. I thought that I had bought reliable sport wheels. Ended up with multiple flat tires and air leakage from dents and pings in the rims. Was so frustrated with tires constantly looking low in air, not to mention so many flats, that I was seriously considering selling the car for that reason alone! Discovered that no matter how careful I was, the rims (all four) became dented. I finally purchased non-Chrysler steel rims. It was very expensive! I still have some minimal air leakage, but at least no more flats!
I had to replace the brakes before 25,000 miles on car.
I am having leakage of a black tar-like substance from both doors -- and not just a little, but a lot! The dealer used a solvent to remove it, and the "running board" (I don't know what the area is called, but beside the seat at the bottom of where the door closes) now looks like someone took steel wool and scratched it all up! It is clean now, but I wish it was not all scratchy looking. Not to mention the astronomical $350 labor charge for the dealer to take care of this. I am writing to Chrysler regarding this issue, as I do not feel that it is something I should be responsible for financially!
The front end is extremely low, really way too low. It scrapes the ground at the slightest elevation.
Very poor turning radius in the steering.
General comments?
The car looks nice, is sporty and fairly good as far as gas mileage.
I don't think I will buy another Chrysler.
