2000 Volkswagen Polo E review from UK and Ireland

Rear wash wipe failed twice and leaked inside the car once.

Car Failed to start once due to fault solenoid.

This is a fantastic little car, I have driven many small hatchbacks and this was by far the best.

The reason for this is largely due to the build quality, I never experienced any rattles or noises. The car feels very solid, even though it is only a small car.

The interior is very stylish and the blue dashboard illumination is a nice touch.

The performance for the 1.4 engine is ample, however I would have preferred the 1.4 16v version or the 1.6 gti for that extra punch. The acceleration is good and it tops out around 110mph (ish).

The brakes are good, but they require a bit more pressure than I would have expected.

Safety wise its very good, I read a couple of crash test reports and it scored 4/5 on NCAP tests. They pointed out that it was a very solid car. It has twin airbags as standard ABS and side impact bars in the doors, I believe the gti version has side airbags also.

I had a couple of minor problems with the car, but nothing too much hastel. My major problem is with the dealership. They must have been understaffed or something cause getting them to return calls was a nightmare and there was lots of problems with booking cars in and no parts being there when they should have etc.

Overall it's a good solid car, looks nice and is what I expect from VW.
