1993 Peugeot 605 SVI3.0 review from Australia and New Zealand
"Extremely cheap luxury motoring"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The air conditioning compressor failed 3months after purchase. We had to have the system reconfigured to use a more environmentally friendly gas.
The brake rotors have had to be replaced after 5 months.
The head gasket blew after 12 months, further inspection resulted in a total engine rebuild.
The gear shift lever is falling apart.
The auto aerial has had to be replaced after 18 months.
General comments?
This car is a joy to drive. It goes like a scalded cat when required and cruises effortlessly. It is a supremely comfortable upstaged in this respect only by its predecessor the 604.
It can be hard on the gas around town.
Whilst we have had a costly experience with this car, I think it has been more the odd one out rather than the norm for this model.
