1994 Mercury Cougar XR-z review from North America
"Elegant Sportiness"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
In the winter, below 32 degrees every idiot light flashed untill the car was warmed up. It often made a really weird whining noise untill warmed up (not a belt sound) I have had several Cougars, 78, 89, 90, and this 94.. the brakes sucked on all of them in one way or another. The power Moonroof continued to open and close, but the normal stops moved each time you opened the roof, and it made a hideous clacking sound if you held on to the button too long, like a belt slippiing. The seals were rought, but it never leaked. She wasnt the most powerful, but aside from 1 tune up at 80k and 2 sets of brakes... she never stranded me. (unlike this 30k Mustang I bought to replace her)
General comments?
OK so it looks like your uncles car, well mine really didn't.. it has the fill ground effects, spoiler, moonroof, tinted windows, driving lights... it turned heads all over... Its comfortable, roomy, and you feel safe in it on dry levelpavement... A bit light on corners and in the winter...drive your truck.
