1994 Nissan Maxima GXE review from North America

First of all, this is a great car. The most serious problem I have had with the car is the Automatic Transmission. Right after I purchased the car, the transmission started to slightly slip in second and fourth gears. Though it still worked for a long time, and never got any worse, I had to buy a replacement because I just couldn't take it anymore. That cost me $1200.00 for a re-built one that I had to install myself.

Another problem I had is with the BOSE system. The LCD on the head unit went out and the rear speakers were blown. I just replaced that with an aftermarket AIWA CD system.

The power windows have also given me some problems. First, the rear window regulators went out, followed by the fron passenger window regulator.

I fixed all these items myself because Nissan Dealers prices are absolutely OUTRAGEOUS. Just for the new transmission they quoted almost $6000.00 to replace it.

I love its performance and pick-up. It even runs great at 125MPH, which I have gotten it up to on a few occasions. With proper maintenance this car could easily get to the 250K + mark without major problems.

Another plus is that the car is not very noticeable by the cops radar, especially if you get the car in a darker color. You just blend in with the crowd and don't get the ticket that the guy in fron of you did.
