1967 Chevrolet Impala 4d sedan review from Finland
"Basic car with long durability when maintained"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Water pump leaked, replaced with new one (cheap!) at 810000kms.
Oil leaks due to old seals, renewed the seals.
Universal joint wore out, replaced at 840000kms.
Originally equipped with 3-speed (fully-synchronized) manual transmission, replaced with "power glide" automatic when clutch started to feel worn out.
After hard driving in German autobahns, replaced the engine with similar, cheap! at 870000km.
Original carburetor worn, rebuild costs much. replaced with similar kind less-worn one.
Loose front end joints if not lubricated frequently.
Rust in lower door panels if leaves gets entered inside the door. clean door "water holes".
Front doors hanging because of hard use.
General comments?
Select a vehicle that is either well maintained or well restored.
My ride gets better all the time when front shock absorbers get more loose.
Fuel consumption according to weight. 155bhp six-in-line little underpowered.
Would recommend model with v8 engine.
On the other hand, parts to GM 6 cylinder engine are really cheap.
