1967 AMC Rebel 770 review from North America
"ROCK in a REBEL!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Total transmission failure at 96000 miles.
General comments?
The 232 engine is an awesome compromise between fuel economy and performance.
The 232 engine WILL go when you want it to.
I have beatten several Ford 5.0s with my 232 Rebel 3 speed.
The stock T-96-J transmission is bound to fail, but even "as is" wil function reliably and strongly for years if not abused.
Abuse the engine. The 232 can take it. Do NOT abuse the T-96-J transmission; it is feable.
