1994 Ford Escort LX Wagon review from North America
"A reliable, cheap to operate, basic vehicle"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
In the first year of ownership, the thermostat was replaced.
The car was recalled once for a wiring harness upgrade.
The wind noise was annoying when traveling over 40 km/hr. Fixed under warranty.
In the second year, water started to leak around the windshield.
Front brakes, rotors and calipers were replaced after 6 years of ownership. Worked perfectly since then.
Rust started to appear everywhere at about the fifth year.
Emergency brakes broken after 7 years.
General comments?
This car is mechanically reliable and cheap to operate.
However, body integrity and rust prevention do not match up.
