1989 Ford Falcon XF review from Australia and New Zealand
"Good, solid, well-built vehicle"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
OK, where do I begin?
First the Transmission went. The bands wore out due to the high Mileage.
Accelerator cable snapped.
Drivers side door lock wore out. (Note. The handles are still good!)
The bench seat is worn to the springs.
General comments?
This car is brilliant. Sure is not as quick as a skyline, or as economical as a Mazda 121, But its decent in all aspects, except fuel economy. Normally 350-400 Ks per 68 Liters.
Its not a race car, but it handles really well for a pane lvan.
The engine is good and strong, low in the rev range, providing good power for towing and driving up hills.
I've got it lowered by 2 inches all round, and it looks pretty mean.
Under the bonnet is a stock motor with extractors, going through to a straight through 2 1/2 in exhaust, and a sports air filter, with custom cold air induction.
Its not quick, but still manages to go from a standing start to 100 ks in a shade under 10 seconds.
